ACULIS and Utah Valley University (UVU) Partner to Construct an Advanced Software Testing Lab
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - February 22, 2008 - ACULIS, Inc., an industry leader in custom software development and IT consultation, has partnered with Utah Valley University (UVU) to construct a new state-of-the-art software development and testing facility, to be called the "ACULIS Software Test Lab".
Goals of the new the joint venture lab facility are to provide what UVU officials are calling "Engaged Learning Programs", incorporating actual business environments and development scenarios with the students' career tracks, providing an educational experience that initiates hands-on experience towards real world employment opportunities.
"Construction of the new facility is a joint effort between UVU Technology Staff, Students and ACULIS IT Professionals. This collaboration will provide additional learning opportunities for our students to engage and participate in the construction from the ground up," says Kevin Young - UVU IT Director.
"With over 30 years of software development experience, we at ACULIS know exactly what IT customers need and what program graduates will have to provide—smart, globally capable technology that carries commerce forward into the future," says James Stone, ACULIS CEO. "The test lab will simulate real-world business situations that challenge students' career tracks and give learners the breadth of knowledge and the familiarity they'll need to stake out that competitive edge."
ACULIS and UVU are building alliances with regional businesses to provide students with on-the-job experience as well. "ACULIS has really stepped up to the task," says Dr. Ernest L. Carey, Dean of UVU's School of Technology and Computing, who intends to make sure the school's program becomes Utah's premier undergraduate program in the field. "We value business and community involvement in developing opportunities and facilities for our students to acquire a top-notch education." Combining a wealth of connections and resources, ACULIS and UVSC are poised to deliver just that—a top-notch education—to the school's students.
Planning and coordination between ACULIS and UVSC, which will be renamed Utah Valley University (UVU) in July 2008, began in December of 2007. Construction began in January 2007, with an official opening scheduled for February 2008. Students will take theirs seats in the state-of-the-art ACULIS Software Test Lab as early as spring semester of 2008.
